Venice has so many wonderful museums, churches, piazzas and palaces it is hard to know which ones to visit. Piazza San Marco is the principal square, which is dominated by the St Mark`s Basilica. The Basilica is the city`s most famous church and is a superb example of Byzantine architecture. The Basilica is connected to the Gothic Doge`s Palace which was the residence of the Doge of Venice. The palace is now a museum where visitors can marvel at the artwork of Tintoretto and Paolo Veronese.
